Drumlins Park Wind Farm
Watch Delivery of Drumlins Grid Transformer
The Drumlins Park Wind Farm construction team are celebrating another major milestone after the successful delivery of the grid transformer to the 110 kV substation site in County Monaghan. The transformer will enable the transmission of renewable energy from our 48.8 MW wind farm.
Our Grid contracting partner, H&MV Engineering, transported the 80-tonne unit via their specialist haulage partner from Dublin Port, travelling at a reduced speed for safety on the 130 km journey which lasted 5 hours.
Energia Renewables Head of Grid, David Lyons, said: “The delivery of the Ganz grid transformer from Hungary is a key milestone for the substation build with H&MV on programme to hand over the substation to ESBN for final commissioning in the coming months. With ongoing supply chain pressures across Europe and a tight project programme, I would like to thank all those involved in reaching another major project milestone. Thanks to H&MV, supported by Fox Building & Engineering on the substation civil elements, we have made major progress in the last year with the substation platform and electrical infrastructure taking real shape on site.”
Energia is partnering with US energy giant GE Renewable Energy to supply eight 6.1 MW turbines with a tip height of 180m. Once operational, the 48.8 MW site will generate enough green electricity to power around 34,000 homes.
