Energia Group, one of Ireland’s leading renewable energy infrastructure investors and energy providers, is delighted to announce the official opening of Crossmore Wind Farm in Co Clare.

The wind farm, which entered commercial operation in December 2025, is underpinned by a corporate power purchase agreement with Microsoft and represents another significant milestone in Energia Group’s growing renewable energy portfolio.

Located in west Clare, Crossmore Wind Farm consists of seven wind turbines and is one of three to reach commercial operations under a strategic framework agreement signed between Energia Group and Microsoft in 2022. Over 100 MW of new renewable capacity has been added to the power system across these three projects – Drumlins Park Wind Farm in Co Monaghan, Crossmore and Ballylongford Wind Farm in Co Kerry.

The framework agreement will also enable Energia Group to construct and operate a large portfolio of new onshore wind and solar projects in Ireland, that will further supply new renewable electricity to the national grid and support the Irish Government’s climate action goals.

Peter Baillie, Managing Director of Energia Renewables said at the launch:

"The opening of Crossmore Wind Farm is a significant achievement for Energia Group as a business and energy provider. It is another example of our commitment to renewable generation, and our partnership with Microsoft enables us to play a role in Ireland’s ongoing energy transition and broader development.”

“Impact at a local and national level is important, and we are particularly proud of the positive relationships developed with the local community throughout the construction and development of this project. Crossmore Wind Farm will deliver long-term benefits to the region through its community benefit fund while contributing renewable electricity to Ireland’s national grid."

Ciaran Conlon, Director of Public Policy at Microsoft Ireland, said:

“Our continued partnership with Energia is helping to expand Ireland’s renewable energy capacity and support the transition to a cleaner power system. Across Ireland, we have contracted more than 1 GW of new renewable energy capacity to date. Including Crossmore Wind Farm, 606 MW of this capacity is now operational.

These agreements help us meet our renewable energy commitments here in Ireland and support Microsoft's global ambition to match our data centres' annual electricity consumption with renewable energy purchases."

As part of its commitment to supporting communities neighbouring its renewable energy projects, Energia Group has established a Crossmore Wind Farm Community Benefit Fund. Administered independently by Community Foundation Ireland, the fund will provide annual grants to support local community groups, voluntary organisations and environmental initiatives in the area.

With the opening of Crossmore, Energia Group now owns and operates 18 wind farms across the island of Ireland. Its annual community investment through its wind farm benefit funds, annual household payments and sponsorships has reached over €1 million and is growing year on year.
