Over 58,000 people benefit from Energia Group’s Greener Possibilities Fund
Energia Group, a leader in renewable energy in Ireland has announced that the company’s Greener Possibilities Fund invested €80,000 and benefited 58,000 people across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Supporting the communities in which our business operates is a key strategic objective of Energia Group. This funding reflects our commitment to making a positive impact in local communities.

The Greener Possibilities Fund, funded by Energia Group and administered by Community Foundation Ireland, supports projects aligned with SDGs 11 and 13 whose work involves climate resilience and biodiversity protection. In 2024, in the Republic of Ireland, FoodCloud and Global Action Plan were awarded funding, while in Northern Ireland, Grow NI and Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful were chosen as recipients.
FoodCloud has improved technologies due to the grant funding, which has allowed them to reach an increased number of people by providing 2,000 tonnes of surplus food.
Global Action Plan has also reaped the benefits of the Greener Possibilities Fund. The organisation has engaged with 42 local groups, including disability services, youth groups, and recovery programmes. In 2025, the organisation also recorded over 6,400 visits to its two community gardens, in Ballymun and Blanchardstown - a major increase compared to the 4,893 visits last year.
In Northern Ireland, Grow NI continues to build on its work with local schools and has held 85 weekly sessions that focuses on enhancing biodiversity. Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful has also partnered with Stranmillis University College & Eco-schools, which has seen over 140 future teachers trained in environmental education.
Gwyneth Compston from Energia Group reflected on the year and looks ahead to further growth and support for the four organisations. “We are thrilled to be supporting these key community-led groups. All projects are showing clear progression towards a more sustainable journey. With huge engagement across the board in terms of service users and volunteers, the Greener Possibilities Fund continues to have a significant impact on people in Ireland and for us in Energia Group.”
The Community Foundation Ireland reported that each of the funded projects is successfully meeting its core objectives, engaging constructively with both the Foundation and Energia Group. Notable progress has been made towards Sustainable Development Goals 11 and 13, particularly through increased stakeholder involvement. The combination of enthusiastic volunteers and professional guidance has enabled these initiatives to thrive and deliver meaningful impact within their communities.
FoodCloud highlighted a transformative year made possible through support from the Greener Possibilities Fund. The funding has enabled operational improvements and extended support to numerous charities, enhancing FoodCloud’s ability to positively affect lives across Ireland.
